About Us
Min Pins and Mutts K-9 Rescue Inc. was started by Lisa Bruning in August 2013, the rescue is located in Crestview in the Northwest Florida Panhandle. She felt it was necessary to start it since another rescue she still volunteers for cannot take min pin mixes or min pins over 5 years old because of the lack of volunteers.
She has rescued many dogs over the years and found them all new and loving homes. dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds but mostly mixes. Her family always had Staffordshire Bull Terriers in the UK when she was growing up so she always has a soft spot for them too but her first love is for min pins. She always loved animals as a child and always wanted to work with them.
We are currently in the process of applying for 501c3 non profit status and will hopefully be able to get more financial assistance to ease the burden off of Lisa. Up until now, Lisa has funded almost all of the vetting required to save the dogs but would like to be able to get more help. Especially with fostering dogs.
Our mission is to help as many dogs as we can, we are also committed to educating people about the miniature pinscher breed and other subjects such as spaying and neutering.
Lisa and Jasmine
Lisa was given Jasmine by a man who could no longer afford to get her vetted and spayed since he had lost his job. His breed of preference was dachshunds anyway. Lisa took Jasmine and had her vetted and spayed. Jasmine started having serious problems as a result of her spay and the microchip that was implanted. She became lethargic, was running a high fever and had a huge swelling over her shoulder area. Lisa immediately took her to the emergency clinic, on Friday night, where they stabilized her until Lisa could get her to the vet, who had originally spayed her, the following day. Lisa had to leave Jasmine at the vet over the weekend and she just sobbed all the way home, worrying about the tiny, precious baby she had left there. At that point, she realized Jasmine wasn't going anywhere and that she had fallen in love with this skinny, pitiful looking puppy. Jasmine recovered from her illnes and is now a beloved member of the Bruning family. She is also the reason Lisa fell in love with miniature pinschers as a breed and is now running a rescue. She also currently volunteers for IMPS - Internet Miniature Pinscher Services Inc. in Florida
